...offer trade prices not available to the general public to businesses and individuals who resell print, enabling them to substantially undercut printers local to them.
There are so many to pick from, some good and some VERY bad, here are a few pointers to help you make your decision.
1) Don't let your decision be based on price alone, it is no good paying cheap prices if the quality of the product is poor and it is delivered late to your customer, this is no way to build a client base. First and utmost you need high quality products and fantastic customer service, remember you are only as good as the print company backing you, lastly you need competetive prices.
2) If possible, ask to speak to a few other people in the print reseller scheme, you will be able to gauge from their responses if it is a good one or not.
3) Always ask to see a selection of printed samples, printers using old fashioned out of date presses made by companies who are unheard of cannot compete with the high quality print of the market leading print presses, such as Heidelberg.
4) Some print reseller schemes offer the easy option of a white label website, this basically gives you an ecommerce shop straightaway, for a fee of course! This may be an easy start for you but if your printer's quality or customer service goes downhill you cannot just go elsewhere, you may own the domain name but the website and back end system belong to the print company. We would always recommend starting out slowly and testing the market, if it looks good which it usually does then look at having your own website developed, at least that way you are free to do as you please.
Whether you are a printer looking to venture online or a print reseller starting out, we hope the above has explained what print reseller schemes are all about.
