Print Reseller Schemes

An insight into the profitable world of print reselling and print reseller schemes.

Print Reseller Schemes...

...offer trade prices not available to the general public to businesses and individuals who resell print, enabling them to substantially undercut printers local to them.

Online Print Companies:

There are so many print reseller schemes available nowadays and a new one seems to pop up everyday. The main reason for this influx of print reseller schemes is that online printers need volume, in order to be competetive online printers make a much smaller profit compared to their local printer counterparts, by having a smaller mark up means their prices are very competitive and in turn more orders are placed. To increase orders further many printers now offer
print reseller schemes, basically a trade price list not available to the general public. Having print resellers on board reselling the products to their local business community increases the quantity of orders and products printed considerably. The goal the online printer wishes to acheive is enough throughput to enable them to batch print.

Once a printer has enough orders being placed each day they can then start batch printing, instead of starting the press up to print 1 run of 5k business cards for a customer they now batch 10 or so orders of 5k business cards together and print them all in one go. The total cost to print the 50k business cards is then spread out between the 10 customers which makes the buy price for them and the production cost for the printer much less. This now means that the printer can reduce prices even further making it difficult for other printers to compete. The other benefit to this increase in orders is the large quantity of stock the printer now uses, this puts the printer in a very strong position where they can negotiate good prices from the paper manufacturers.

Local Print Companies

As more and more businesses source their print and design online it will be the local printers with no internet presence that will suffer, believe me these local print companies that cannot compete on price will start to feel this in their wallets. Local printers have been very comfortable over the years and been able to charge whatever they like, however, the print industry is changing at a fast pace and printers that don't act quick will be left behind.

The local print companies that finally realise they need to tap in to the online market soon find that it is not that easy, there are many obstacles ahead for them including trying to compete against the already well established online printers. Unfortunately your local printer does not have the throughput to batch print and more often than not has the overheads of a walk in shop in a prime location, your online printer who solely relies on internet sales will be tucked away in much cheaper premises on industrial estates.

So what does this mean for the print reseller?

Well it means they/you are in a fantastic position to make some money, if you find the right
print reseller scheme you can substantially undercut your local print companies and exploit the position they are stuck in, if you can provide a product and service locally for less without compromising on quality and service then you have the opportunity to be very successful. Marketing is the key, local businesses will always want to save money, all you need to do is show them the quality of your products and the prices you can offer.
